Mike Owens

      Mike is an experienced C-Suite executive who blends his two passions – business and sports – to lead high-performing teams to achieve aggressive goals at world-class organizations. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer at Gander Mountain, the nation’s largest retail network of outdoor specialty stores from 2009 until 2015, as well as EVP and COO from 2009 to 2014. In these roles, he led all strategic planning and day-to-day operations with full P&L responsibility for 160 retail stores generating more than $1B in annual revenue.

      Mike also had a long-term and highly-successful career at Anheuser-Busch, Inc. He started with the company in 1982, and departed in 2008 following the $52 billion merger with InBev. Mike served as Vice President of Business Operations in his last year with the company, with reporting responsibility for global procurement, U.S. financial planning, and information technology. From 2001 to 2007 he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing, reporting directly to the CEO and leading an organization with a $1B sales, marketing, and media budget, and a team of more than 1,000 employees generating $13B in annual revenue.

      His early career experience, included positions with the University of Missouri Athletic Department and Touche Ross & Co. Mike was also a 3-year letterman, Academic All-Big 8, and the starting center on the University of Missouri football team in 1974 and 1975.


      B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Missouri; M.Ed in Sports Administration from Ohio University.
